About us
Gulsah Unal is a London based architect and director of Studio Gulsah Unal. She attended Architectural Association School of Architecture and received her Diploma in Architecture in 2016 and she is a member of the UK Architects Registration Board (ARB). She previously worked for ACME Architects London (2016-1017).
Gulsah Unal is a keen believer in the power of design as a trigger for fateful encounters and as space for prompting collaboration, and thus a catalyst for positive change. As an architect and designer, her experience ranges from masterplanning to technical detail design for small scale projects. Most recently she completed designworks for projects in London which have been praised for their inviting atmospheres achieved through careful design and choice of materials.
Her work focuses on concatenation of contested grounds in the making of Peninsulas and re-gathers transcontinental knowledge on circulations. It investigates material and infrastructural systems; their small footprints versus the real impact of making of them. The projects explore transient movement of material, people and earth.
Currently she is collaborating with the family services department of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea to assemble a team of creative practitioners to create Freeda, an educational network for girls aged 11- 14 from disadvantaged backgrounds.
